A mysterious virus is slowly covering everything and everyone in thick fur.  Initially, only men start to notice their five o’clock shadow has started coming in earlier and earlier.  Hair returns to the heads of bald men, who briefly rejoice.  Eventually, everyone notices they are in need of haircuts in just days after their last.  Soon women, and children start growing beards.  Then, instead of grass, hair starts growing in a park.  Eventually, trees are entirely covered in thick, shaggy hair.  Instead of just beards, people have now started to grow gross, matted fur all over their bodies, blonde, brunette, shiny black and even red fur everywhere.  Albinos are covered in fine, pigment-less fur.  Animals, even those with fur coats, grow even furrier than normal.  Finally birds begin dropping out of the sky, as the fur on their feathers keeps them from flying, and fish and crustaceans are pulled out of the water covered in slimy, foul smelling fur.  People struggle to cope with the unexplained hair, and cannot stand it.  Governments crumble, people fight and kill one another over even the most basic of supplies.

Depilatory creams are tried, lasers, all manner of hair removal, but nothing permanently removes the fur.  Even inanimate objects, rocks, buildings, cars all begin to grow fur on every available surface. Finally, even food is completely covered in fur, and any fur removed immediately grows back.  People begin to starve en masse, or die from trichophagia induced bezoars.  Soon the entire planet is wiped out, covered in hair.  No explanation is given.
